What language stability requirements must I demonstrate?

Criterion 1: Documentation for Meaning or Intended Meaning of the String

Applicants should provide evidence that the intended language and its writing system are in stable, general purpose, and contemporary use by a community, for example by referencing the language status based on EGIDS level 0-4. If the EGIDS level is 5, further evidence of usage of the word may be needed to establish contemporary and general purpose use of the variant word or intended word in writing. Languages with an EGIDS score higher than 5 may not represent a stable common purpose use or stable orthography. This may raise additional challenges in assessing the viability of variant strings by the panel. Stronger evidence of use and meaning of the word across the community will need to be provided. Strong evidence of common use and stability of the language in the writing system, in addition to usage of the (intended) word, may be required in such cases.
