What is a GAC Member Early Warning?

This content is available only in English Language

A GAC Member Early Warning is a formal notice issued by a member or observer of ICANN's Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC) to signal that a new gTLD application is seen as potentially sensitive or problematic. The concerns raised can include potential conflicts with national laws or sensitivities related to cultural, social, economical, or public policy issues. Early Warnings give applicants the opportunity to try to address such concerns where possible, before later stages of the Program, reducing the risk that the application becomes subject to GAC Consensus Advice or an objection.
