Additional details regarding ICANN New gTLD Auction participation requirements and withdrawal procedures will be included in the auction rules and procedures, which will be made available no later than 60 days before the first auction.
For reference, under the 2012 Round auction rules, a bidder could withdraw from an auction by providing written notice to ICANN and the Auction Manager no later than the applicable deposit deadline. If a bidder did not formally withdraw by that deadline and did not participate in the auction, an automatic default bid of USD 1 would be entered on its behalf. Applicants should not assume that the same procedures will apply in the 2026 Round until the applicable auction rules and procedures are published.
