Singular/Plural Notifications Form | Singular/Plural Notifications Wiki

Some applicants may apply for strings that inadvertently or purposefully form meaningful words across different languages, and these words can have different meanings in different languages and may have singular and plural forms.

In order to reduce the risk of end user confusion, the delegation of singulars and plurals of the same word in the same language is prohibited, provided ICANN receives a notification and the notification is determined to be legitimate per the criteria in the AGB Section 4.4.

Anyone, including, but not limited to applicants in the New gTLD Program, operators of delegated gTLDs, governments, and members of the general public, can raise concerns regarding singular/plural issues.

Applies toAny applied-for gTLD string that may be the singular or plural form of another applied-for string, a string being processed from a previous new gTLD round, an existing gTLD in the same language, or a Blocked Name.

Evaluation Challenge

Applicants have 21 days to challenge a validated Singular/Plural Notification once a notification is issued with the determination.

Evaluation Challenges must be filed through the TLD Application Management System (TAMS) and are assessed under the "clearly erroneous" standard as described in Section 4.4.4 Challenging the Singular/Plural Notifications Evaluation of the AGB. See further detail in the Singular/Plural Notification Evaluation FAQ pages.

Evaluation Challenges are published to the Evaluation Challenge Mechanism page (coming soon) and managed on the Evaluation Challenge Mechanism Wiki.
