When can a replacement string be used?

This content is available only in English Language

Last Updated: October 2026

An applicant can only elect to switch to their designated replacement string during the 14 day replacement period following Reveal Day.

A replacement string cannot be used:

  • If an applicant’s replacement string is identical to another applied-for string.
  • If an applicant’s replacement string is identical to another applicant’s replacement string.

If an applicant submits the Replacement String Attestation in TAMS, that selection is permanent and irreversible. Under no circumstances can applicants change their selection.

If an applicant does not submit their Replacement String Attestation within the replacement period, the applicant will proceed with their original applied-for string.
