An applied-for gTLD string must:
- For an ASCII string – be an NR-LDH or a valid A-label (per RFC 5890).
- For an IDN string – comply with IDNA2008 standards and applicable updates.
- Comply with the applicable version of Root Zone Label Generation Rules (RZ-LGR).
- For a variant string – be an allocatable variant of an existing gTLD or an applied-for primary string.
